I just have to say that I got the scalp-prickles just reading this, relating to how amazing this experience was for you. I'm a similarly fanatical follower of Dawes, and everything you said here about the feelings at a special show is spot-on - the run to the rail, the haze of expectation, the incandescence of the show, and especially the family of fellow fans being almost as important as the music. We are so lucky to have this!
Thanks for sharing this. I saw the Truckers pre-Isbell on the Southern Rock Opera tour and they’ve been my favorite band since. That show was so incredible and when both Isbell and Patterson said something like, “one of their best days ever”, it seemed that everyone in the crowd was feeling the same thing.

I really wanted to make it to this show but couldn't, I'm glad it was so great! I'll be seeing Jason later in the month at the Ryman. I'm counting down the days to that show!
