Mid-Semester Update: ShoalsFest, new interviews, and the return of Undefined.
It’s been a minute since I’ve done one of these, and I figured it was time for a check-in. I just hit the midpoint of the semester, and things have been SO BUSY. That’s why there’s been a little break in content lately. I’m currently taking three courses and TAing for two undergraduate classes. Last week I had an assignment due in every class and over two hundred papers to grade, and this week I had both a paper and a presentation.
Luckily, this weekend is slower, which works out perfectly because tomorrow I’m headed to Muscle Shoals, Alabama for Jason Isbell’s ShoalsFest!!!! It’ll be my first time attending, and I can’t wait to see everyone there.
Earlier this week, I caught Greensky Bluegrass when they played here in Tuscaloosa at the Bama Theatre. Since it was literally five minutes away, I decided to check it out and was completely blown away. I’ll be writing about that soon, so keep an eye out.
I’m also editing my interviews with Scott Danbom and Tom Blankenship and plan to release those as soon as possible. I realized I still have two older interviews that never made it to YouTube—Craig Finn and Lydia Loveless—so you can expect those “from the vault” Undefined episodes soon too.
School takes up most of my time, and I really miss working on the show, but now that I’m more settled here in Tuscaloosa, I’m making an effort to get things running again. I have some fun shows lined up that I definitely want to write about. I’m seeing Jason Isbell again on the 24th at the Ryman, which has become a yearly tradition for me, and then I’m off to Atlanta on Halloween weekend for two My Morning Jacket shows. In November, I’m hoping to see A Day to Remember and Yellowcard, so stay tuned for those posts.
Thank you all so much for supporting this show and my work. It truly means the world. If you’re going to ShoalsFest or any of these other shows, come say hi! Here’s some photos of life lately!
